Unknown
The quality of life in the neighboring Andromeda
The origins of the myth that the moon is made from cheese
The literal meaning of disambiguation
The longitudinal coordinates of the Bermuda triangle
The opposite of opposite
The ultimate truth about the creation of the world
The vital details to one suffering from amnesia
The answer to the chicken or the egg
The one hundred and nineteenth element
The contents and constraints of a black hole
The numeric value of the given missing variable
The cause of fear that keeps us all awake
The rationale behind the ferocity by which we love
The looming darkness which we know as the future
I like the idea of a list poem that piles on unknowns to create meaning through their compilation, however I think some of the unknowns are more unknown/profounf than others. Things like the origins of the myth that the moon is made of cheese don't work so well for me, because one could easily google that fact and it isn't so intrigueing or thought-provoking. The ultimate truth of the creation of the world, however, is thought-provoking, in part because there is not final answer as it isn't a purely factual question/answer
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of this poem, but I would include more philosophical unknowns that make the reader think, like "The rationale behind the ferocity by which we love", and fewer ones that are more factual like "The origins of the myth thyat the moon is made of cheese", which is more factual and easy to just google.
